Wind of Change?

The Europoean point of view could be misleading: American society is changing. Europeans watch TV. They watch people demonstrating in front of the White House, adressing Clinton to stop the war against the poor. It seems as if a new quality of regardlessness takes place in american way of life. Perhaps, however, this is not true. Perhaps it is a current delusion: because what happens in the United States is a result of a steady and firm conviction that everybody creates his own destiny, is responsible for the ups and downs of life hinself. In Gods own Country therefore it seems impossible to assume that anybody is left to a fate that does not depend on his own gifts. Thats why Scientology gets its tail wind. Thats why a firm belief in individual megalomania seems to make any impossible mission possible. You can do, if you really want: no excuses possible. Therefore Hollywood goes politics, and politics go Hollywood. Look: We can beat any alien and no twister can lead us astray. That makes poorness a trait of poorspirited creatures who do not want to struggle for life. The message is: The spirit of America, enriched by a religion that enlarges the power of becoming rich, is the Holy Ghost itself. Clinton and Dole come to blows, but everybody can watch them acting uniform in great spirits. They fly with the wind in the tail. Its not the wind of change, but the steady air current of religious locomotion that estimates poorness a profanation of a spiritual lack.
